Schererville is a small town in St. John Township, part of Lake County and home to about 31,000 residents. Long before Indiana even became a state this area was known as the "Crossroads" and trails still cross in Schererville as this is the intersection of Highway 41, 30, Interstate 80, 94, and 65. That's probably why Schererville's slogan is "Crossroads of the Nation."
Schererville was named one of the 100 Best Places to Live in the US by Money Magazine and we recently had our sesquicentennial in 2016. Schererville is part of the Lake Central School Corporation, which also serves St. John and Dyer. There's one high school, three middle schools, and six elementary schools as well as to private schools, Saint Michael school and the Forest Ridge Academy.
Homes and real estate are approximately $200,000-$350,000 on average. Home prices have been steadily increasing at a rate of about 3% to 4% per year. Neighboring communities of St. John, monster, and Dyer, all have approximately the same price per square foot.
